Une Rencontre
... the fact of two people meeting (planned or by accident) ...
the story behind the collection
In jewelry history there is a tradition of the ring “Vous et Moi” or these days “Toi et Moi” ( meaning “You and I”) a ring often given to a loved one, symbolising the union of two people:
The inseparable couple united in eternal love: two similar elements joined together and represented by two unique gemstones.
This style became popular during the time of Napoleon Bonaparte when he gave Josephine de Beauharnais a beautiful "You and I" engagement ring. It was composed of a pear-shaped sapphire and diamond. This model was fashionable at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Today, this ring is still very popular for any occasion: engagement, anniversary or special occasion.
I wanted to revisit this symbol of romance and look at the different stages within a relationship, human encounters in general through a modern lens :
In the beginning of any union there are always two separate beings “Vous” et “Moi” :
It all begins with a fleeting gaze, a conversation…both can go their separate ways again… or continue as one“Vous et Moi”… .
